General properties
Antibacterials for systemic use. The combination of sulfonamides and trimethoprim, including derivatives.
Treatment of infections caused by drug sensitive pathogens when benefit from this treatment is more than the potential risk; necessary to solve the problem that only one antibacterial agent should not be used.
Infections of the upper respiratory tract and respiratory tract: sinusitis, otitis media, acute and chronic bronchitis, bronchiectasis, pneumonia (including caused by Pneumocystis сагіпіі), pharyngitis, tonsillitis (infections caused by the p-hemolytic streptococci group A, eradication rate is not quite enough).
Infections of the kidneys and urinary tract infections: acute and chronic cystitis, pyelonephritis, urethritis, prostatitis, chancroid.
Digestive tract infections: typhoid and paratyphoid, shigellosis (caused by susceptible strains of Shigella flexneri and Shigella sonnei, if prescribed antibacterial therapy), diarrhea of "traveler" caused by strains of Escherichia coli, cholera (in addition to the restoration of fluid and electrolyte).
Other bacterial infections: acute and chronic osteomyelitis, brucellosis, nocardiosis, actinomycosis, toxoplasmosis, South American blastomycosis.
Hypersensitivity to trimethoprim and sulfamethoxazole (including sulfanilamid derivatives, sulfonylurea antidiabetic agents, as well as thiazide diuretics), and other ingredients.
Acute hepatitis, abnormal liver function, porphyria.
Blood diseases, disorders of hematopoiesis, anemia caused by folic acid deficiency, deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase.
Kidney failure, which is characterized by a creatinine clearance less than 15 ml/min (except in the case of hemodialysis).
Patients who undergo chemotherapy.
Must not be administered in combination with dofetilide.
